Lauren Mirza writes warm, funny, and relatable children's picture books inspired by the real-life adventures of her own family.
The Little Adventures of One Big Family series follows three generations of one family: four children, Mum, Dad, Mamma and Granddad, along with their two dogs. From the wonderfully ordinary to the slightly chaotic, each story begins with true stories and experiences that really happened and turns them into an adventure children and their grown-ups can recognize, enjoy, and laugh about together.
The characters in Lauren's books aren't invented, either. The illustrations depict her actual family members, and she even uses their real names. The people, personalities, and pets behind the stories truly reflect the neurodivergent family life you meet on the page.
The series started almost like a family diary, a way for Lauren to capture the funny, chaotic, and ordinary little moments of family life that she never wanted to forget. Those memories became stories that also reflect autism parenting advice tips for families navigating similar challenges.
